Well Winnipeg beat Toronto on Saturday to earn a spot in the Eastern Finals! But if they play the way they did on Saturday against Montreal...it will be lights out in a hurry.

Regardless, however this ends, the East had an easier path for the Bombers!

Sure, no team has crossed over and made it to the Grey Cup. (And if Winnipeg can do it this year this will be the first and the last time it happens as the CFL is changing the playoff format for 2027). Yes, Montreal decimated Winnipeg in Montreal the last time they played. But going through the East was a path that is easier for the Bombers.

**The Eastern Path**
All along I said that the Bombers could beat Toronto, and that there was a path to victory there. For me, that path meant that Chad Kelly might throw for 500 yards...but also 6 interceptions. And while I was wrong about how the Bombers could have beaten Toronto, I believe that Toronto was an easier game than BC would have been.

Would you rather face Chad Kelly who would be likely to gash you for many yards in the air, and probably throw a number of interceptions, or face BC who is in a dome and has killed you on the ground? I am taking Toronto any day of the week!

And now that the Bombers have got past Toronto they will have to beat Montreal if the Bombers are to get to the Grey Cup. (Full disclosure, I do not see the Bombers winning this game, but I do not think they would not have even got to the Finals if they were in the West).

**Week 18**
In Week 18 the Bombers were beat by Montreal 37-10! And let us remember that Dru Brown started that game for Winnipeg as Collaros was injured (which could be the same situation this Saturday).

As bad as that beating was, the Bombers are also one of the few teams that have beat Montreal this year this year.

Tell me if you think the Bombers are more likely to beat Montreal in Montreal or Edmonton in Edmonton. But before you do that, tell me if you think the Bombers would have even beat BC to get the opportunity to play in Edmonton.

**Final Thoughts**
We have no clue how this thing is going to end. And as much as I do not think it will happen, there is a path to victory for Winnipeg against Montreal. And it would be similar to the path of victory for Winnipeg over Edmonton.

Whether or not they make it down that path is a different story!

Winnipeg will need to play a near perfect game, get a couple of big plays on special teams and have Montreal make numerous mistakes. Without that, the game might be close...but Winnipeg will be done for 2026.

What do you think? Let me know wherever you are reading this.
