## How it turned

Ole Miss led 14-3 after the first quarter, and that was before things really got out of hand. [Trinidad Chambliss](https://profootballnewshub.com/ncaa/players/trinidad-chambliss) opened the scoring with a 10-yard touchdown run, and Kelvion Lacy added a 2-yard score before the quarter ended. Vanderbilt's only answer was a 45-yard field goal from B. Taylor.

Then came the half that buried Vanderbilt. Ole Miss scored 28 points in the second quarter alone, turning a 14-3 game into a 42-3 lead at the break. Chambliss hit J. Brown for a 2-yard touchdown, found [Deuce Alexander](https://profootballnewshub.com/ncaa/players/deuce-alexander) for a 39-yard score, and connected with M. Smith for 4 yards. Mixed in was a defensive touchdown, with [Jared Curtis](https://profootballnewshub.com/ncaa/players/jared-curtis) fumbling on a sack and S. Perkins scooping it up for a 5-yard return score.

Vanderbilt found some life in the third quarter, with Curtis hitting [Ja'Cory Thomas](https://profootballnewshub.com/ncaa/players/ja-cory-thomas) for a 13-yard touchdown to make it 42-10 after three. But Ole Miss answered in the fourth with a Carneiro field goal and a 35-yard touchdown run from [Shekai Mills-Knight](https://profootballnewshub.com/ncaa/players/shekai-mills-knight) before Vanderbilt closed the scoring on a 1-yard touchdown run from J. Lassiter, setting the final at 52-17.
