Toronto wide receiver honoured for stellar first season
TORONTO (October 30, 2026) – Toronto wide receiver Tyler Kahmann is the Canadian Football League’s (CFL) Most Outstanding Rookie. The Haysville, Kans., native is the sixth Argonaut to receive the award and the first since Qwan’tez Stiggers in 2023.
Kahmann was one of four Double Blue receivers to reach 1,000+ yards on the season. The former East Carolina Pirate ranked Top-15 in receptions (77 – 14th), receiving yards (1,092 – 12th) and touchdowns (eight – T-5th). He registered two multi-TD efforts and four 100-yard+ games, while averaging 14.2 yards per catch.
His fellow millennium makers – Damonte Coxie, David Ungerer III and Kevin Mital – gathered to surprise him with the news. The moment is part of the CFL’s refreshed approach to recognizing award winners in lieu of a traditional awards ceremony, offering fans a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse into the people and stories behind the statistics and accomplishments.
As part of a revamped awards process, every player who received a vote for team awards advanced to the final ballot for the corresponding CFL Award. The finalists were voted on by the same pool of local members of the Football Reporters of Canada (FRC) who determined team award winners, as well as national members of the FRC. In total, 52 votes were counted. Complete ballots can be downloaded below.
