Alouette's Keys to the Game

Feed Lawrence early

Lawrence carried 16 times for 109 yards last week. Montreal should look to establish to run early to prevent too much pressure being put on Crum.

Play clean with Crum

Crum was efficient (20 of 26) in a low-scoring loss. Avoid turnovers and negative plays that hand Toronto short fields with a different personnel look in this game.

Pressure Horn on the first drive

Horn is making his first career CFL start. Toronto’s offence looks different without Kelly, Arbuckle, Coxie, and several others. A quick three-and-out or a sack on the opening series sets the tone before Horn settles in.

Stop the Run

Getting early stops against the run will encourage Toronto to deviate from the run game and neglect providing Horn with run support, which goes a long way for a passer in their first start.

Alouettes to Watch

16 QB Dustin Crum

Crum was 20 of 26 for 185 yards and a touchdown against Saskatchewan and gets another opportunity to show what he can do.

35 RB Shomari Lawrence

Lawrence rushed 16 times for 109 yards last week. Expect Stevie Scott III to also get significant touches as he returns to the lineup.

15 WR Alexander Hollins

Hollins had 5 catches for 71 yards and a touchdown last week. He is a great receiver who has an opportunity for an increased role with Philpot, Snead, and Spieker out.

89 WR Jerreth Sterns

Sterns added 6 catches for 55 yards last week.

9 LB Geoffrey Cantin-Arku

Cantin-Arku had 7 tackles and a quarterback sack against Saskatchewan. He leads the team in tackles with 90, including 5 sacks and has 2 forced fumbles. He is 10 tackles away from his first 100-tackle season.

Argonauts to Watch

5 QB Tucker Horn

Horn will make his first career CFL start. With Kelly and Arbuckle out. He has 97 touchdowns with only 17 interceptions over his collegiate career at the D3 level, which began at Abilene Christian (2018) and finished with Trinity (2019-2023).

10 WR Kevin Mital

Mital had 6 catches for 110 yards and 2 touchdowns last week. He has 79 catches for 981 yards and 5 touchdowns this season.

82 WR Tyler Kahmann

Kahmann caught all 7 targets for 66 yards last week. He has 76 catches for 1,085 yards and a team-leading 8 touchdowns over his rookie season.

25 RB Samuel Hicks

Hicks has rushed 76 times for 454 yards (6.0 average) and 3 touchdowns this season.

40 LB Darius McKenzie

McKenzie had 7 tackles and 2 quarterback sacks against Ottawa and gets another opportunity to start at middle linebacker

Score Prediction:

I am predicting the Montreal Alouettes to win a close one on the road, 27-20. Both teams are resting key players, and the total is low for a reason. I have more confidence in Montreal with the experience Crum brings, whereas Horn in his first start, is more likely to go through some growing pains that are often natural in the life of a quarterback.
