The matchup
Boise State Broncos have not lost since their opener, piling up wins over Fresno State Bulldogs (38-31), Utah State Aggies (37-18), Western Michigan Broncos (32-7), South Dakota Coyotes (38-24) and Memphis Tigers (38-20). The Broncos have outscored opponents 210-134 on the season, a sign of a team clicking on both sides of the ball.
Washington State Cougars have gone the other direction, losing four straight to Oregon State Beavers (30-48), Utah State Aggies (16-17), Fresno State Bulldogs (6-26) and Arizona Wildcats (24-34), with their lone recent win in that stretch of games coming against Duquesne Dukes (48-7). The Cougars have been outscored 190-141 this season.
Key matchups
This one comes down to Boise State Broncos' defense against a Washington State Cougars offense that has struggled to find points, managing just 141 on the season. On the other side, the Cougars' defense, which has allowed 190 points, will need to find a way to slow down a Broncos attack that has scored 210.
The pick
The market lists Boise State Broncos as 13.0-point favorites with a total of 53.5, and projects a 33-20 final in the Broncos' favor. Given the five-game winning streak against a four-game slide, Boise State Broncos look like the team in control here, with the Cougars needing a turnaround on both sides of the ball just to keep it close.
