The matchup
Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders beat the Delaware Blue Hens 33-30 in their last game on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. Before that, the Blue Raiders were blown out 0-55 by the Kansas Jayhawks, lost 13-23 to the Jacksonville State Gamecocks, beat the Nevada Wolf Pack 27-20, and lost 26-28 to the Marshall Thundering Herd.
FIU Panthers dropped their last game 24-27 to the Jacksonville State Gamecocks on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. Before that stumble, FIU had won back-to-back games, 22-3 over the New Mexico State Aggies and 20-3 over the Long Island Sharks, with a 10-16 loss to the Florida Atlantic Owls and a 33-20 win over the Buffalo Bulls mixed in.
Key matchups
The number to watch is FIU's defense, which has allowed just 88 points on the season, against a Middle Tennessee offense that has put up 137 points. If FIU's defense holds up the way it has for most of the year, it could be the deciding factor.
On the other side, Middle Tennessee's defense has given up 170 points this season, the most of either team involved here, and FIU's offense, which has scored 118 points, will look to take advantage of that.
The pick
FIU's defensive numbers stand out here, having allowed far fewer points than Middle Tennessee has given up, even with the Panthers coming off a loss. Middle Tennessee arrives with its own momentum after snapping back with a win over Delaware, but the gap in points allowed gives FIU the edge at home.
