How it turned

Notre Dame grabbed control early and never let go. The Fighting Irish led 14-0 after the first quarter on a Nolan James Jr. two-yard touchdown run and a CJ Carr touchdown pass to J. Greathouse.

The onslaught continued in the second quarter. Jonaz Walton broke off a 97-yard touchdown run, Stephen Porath added a 33-yard field goal, James Jr. scored again on a 31-yard run, and Carr connected with Aneyas Williams for a 70-yard score. Notre Dame led 37-0 at halftime.

Stanford finally got on the board in the third quarter when Davis Warren found Benji Blackburn for a three-yard touchdown, but Notre Dame answered right back with a Carr-to-Elijah Burress 30-yard strike. The Fighting Irish led 44-7 after three quarters.

Notre Dame closed it out in the fourth with a 40-yard Walton touchdown run and a short touchdown run from J. Osborne, pushing the final margin to 58-7.
