Chief Football Operations Officer and Head of Grey Cup and Events elevated to new role

TORONTO (October 14, 2026) – Canadian Football League (CFL) Commissioner Stewart Johnston has appointed Greg Dick as the League's Deputy Commissioner, effective immediately.

Dick, who has served as the CFL's Chief Football Operations Officer and Head of Grey Cup and Events, assumes an expanded leadership role after years of distinguished service overseeing many of the League's most critical operational and competitive functions.

"Greg has earned the trust and respect of everyone across our league through his integrity, sound judgment and unwavering commitment to excellence," said Commissioner Johnston. "He has played a central role in delivering world-class football operations, strengthening relationships with our clubs and stakeholders, and ensuring the highest standards of competition and governance. In this new role, Greg will be an even more important partner in shaping the future of the CFL and driving our continued growth."

As Deputy Commissioner, Dick will provide executive leadership across key league priorities, including football operations, competitive integrity, officiating, league governance, strategic initiatives, major events, club relations, player relations and enterprise-wide projects. He will also serve as a principal advisor to the Commissioner and represent the League with clubs, partners, government stakeholders, media and fans.

"I am honoured by the confidence Stewart has placed in me," said Dick. "The Canadian Football League is an institution that means so much to Canadians and to everyone who has the privilege of working in the game. Canadian football is in an incredible place and we’re carrying tremendous momentum into next season and beyond. I look forward to continuing our work to build on the CFL's rich traditions and to pursuing new opportunities for growth and innovation."

Prior to the CFL, Dick held leadership roles at Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, Ernst & Young, Streetcar Developments and the National Hockey League Players' Association. He serves as Chair on both the Canadian Football Hall of Fame’s Board and its Selection Committee. He also previously served on the Board of Football Canada.

Dick’s journey with the league has touched on all aspects of the business of Canadian football. He joined the CFL in 2016 as Senior Vice President of Operations and Finance. Over the past decade, he was elevated to Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer, Secretary and Head of Football Operations, before taking on the role of Chief Football Operations Officer and Head of Grey Cup and Events in 2023.

His appointment to Deputy Commissioner reflects the CFL's commitment to strong leadership, operational excellence and the continued evolution of Canada's professional football league.
